One of the concerns people have when they are thinking of moving to Florida is the weather. Namely the hurricanes which we periodically have here. Although they are statistically rare let's face it they can be devastating when they do arrive. Ironically the weather is one of Florida's greatest attractions.
In Central Florida we also have the advantage of being at a much greater elevation. Obviously I am not considering Tampa or the eastern coastline as true Central Florida. I am referring to Orlando and the greater metropolitan area around it.
On the western side of Downtown Orlando we have Sugarloaf Mountain which is actually the highest elevation in the state. This greater elevation greatly decreases the wind that we get here when a hurricane does visit this far into the state.
March is probably the best time to visit Orlando. The weather is amazing and tourism is still not fully restarted from the winter. Getting hotels, choosing restaurants and them parks is all much easier. Central Florida tourism would be a mere fraction of what it is without this city and the amazing theme parks here.
South Tampa is another Central Florida tourism destination. By South Tampa most mean any part of downtown and south of the city. You will discover that this city is amazing and has much to offer. It has more than one university campus, a cruise ship port and amazing downtown area known as Water Street.
Why should you visit and explore Central Florida? Obviously the weather here in Florida is amazing. In the summer it does get rather toasty but in during the fall months we don't freeze and neither do Florida's orange groves.
Walt Disney World, Universal, Seaworld, Leggo Land, Peppa Pig, Bush Gardens and Icon Park should all be on your list. Leggo Land and Peppa Pig are in Polk County which lies between Orlando and Tampa Florida. If you explore Central Florida with youngsters definitely go to those two destination. They will have a blast.
In the mornings I often walk around for a couple of miles and just enjoy life and those 60 degree temperatures. They are perfect for Central Florida tourism and activities which is why the theme parks and other attractions are here in Orlando. If you get to experience it them you will see what I mean.
In the summer (March through September) we are thankful for the many Florida lakes which are found here in Central Florida. There are hundreds of named lakes often interconnected similar those in the amazing Butler Chain of Lakes found here in Windermere FL. Fishing, boating, swimming whatever you choose is available without making the drive to the ocean or gulf.
Visitors in the hotter months like August enjoy the fun that is available on the lakes or manmade beaches like Volcano Bay or one of the more famous theme parks. Another great option is Lake Tohopekaliga a huge lake in Kissimmee just to the south of the theme parks.
