The Windermere FL Town Hall is located near the center on the west side of the town. This is where you will also find the Farmers Market which is normally held weekly. Officially although you won’t need the address the Town Hall is located at 520 Main Street, Windermere FL 34786. Open Monday through Friday from 8 am till 5 pm. Nearby is the Windermere Library both are on the west side of Main Street.
The Town Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places and it does have an amazing history behind it. First referred to as the Windermere Woman’s Club. The Woman’s Club is where residents and town officials would gather to meet early on in Windermere’s History. Although originally the Woman’s Club was built on the shore of Lake Butler in 1922. In 1938 it was moved to where it resides now. In 1945 the Town Hall became the official seat of the local government.
Part of the history of the Woman’s Club that should always be remembered is sadly not that well known. The ladies of Windermere would meet to sew bandages for soldiers during the great war. This contribution and example of their spirit should never be forgotten. Just more incredible history that this city has to share. Someday visit the Windermere FL Town Hall.
