Lake Butler in Windermere FL is the namesake for the local chain of lakes. The large beautiful lake is not only lined with palaces but it is also a great lake for watersports and recreation in general. There are only two public boat ramps which provide access this chain of lakes which almost makes it a private chain.
Lake Butler has an island located near Windermere Town. The Island is named Bird Island and is shown in the video above. Please forgive the low quality of the first 30 seconds or so it was because of lighting. It clears up and becomes a 4K video of the ramp area in Windermere Town and Bird Island.
Lake Butler is also a town which makes up part of what is called Windermere. That is a separate story but some local knowledge. The lake has a surface area of 1,611 acres or just over 2.5 square miles. That is obviously plenty of room for watersports or just some good ole relaxation.
As for the depth based on multiple measurements the mean depth (not average) is 14 feet and the lake holds almost 7.5 billion gallons. Trust me it is deeper than 14 feet in places. The lake sets at 103 feet above sea level and is fairly steady.
Some of the famous communities on this lake include Isleworth and The Reserve at Lake Butler Sound. Lesser known but still stunning communities include Waterstone on lake Butler and Chaine Du Lac. All of these things combined certainly ad to the reputation of Lake Butler in Windermere FL.
