Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite waterpark in Disney. Similar to Volcano Bay it does have a volcano ( Mt. Mayday) and it is built upon the tropical theme. It starkly contrasts Blizzard Beach in every way. Their similarities end with both being great waterparks. The wave pool here is amazing and every 90 seconds it actually creates a six foot wave. I believe it is still the best wave pool in North America.
Although there are plenty of places for children to enjoy in Typhoon Lagoon I think of it as more of an adult or young adult water park. Yes you will see plenty of children there and the park provides some great rides for shorter riders but you will probably agree with me after you visit.
The main attraction is the large wave pool. The pool is large enough to stay a safe distance from the waves and of course there are plenty of lifeguards. Like every lagoon should have there is a gradual entry and a gorgeous sandy beach to relax in true Disney style. To the side of the lagoon you will find waterslides for the youngsters under 60 inches tall. It is actually a well thought out area an you and your loved ones will enjoy it.
Castaway Creek is the lazy river that Typhoon Lagoon is well known for. The entire river ride lasts about 20 minutes but there are many stops along the way. You can even use the creek as a means to travel around most of the park.
Mayday Falls is the longest of the waterslides in Typhoon Lagoon. It is thought to be the medium for intensity and possibly the most scenic as well. Gangplank Falls is the waterslide for entire families or at least multiple riders.
Katchakiddee Creek is the play area for children. If your youngster is under 48 inches then this is where you should go. It is catered to children and they will love it and want to spend all day there. As you can see I tried to keep this brief. This is Disney's most amazing water park and a definite visit. Thank you for visiting our site and we hope you have a blast at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon !
