Wauseon Bay is the small lake which sets on the north and west side of Windermere Town. The canal that goes from Wauseon Bay to Lake Down passes under Main Street. This is the point or within a few feet of it where Main Street becomes Maguire Road. Wauseon Bay most likely received its name from one of the founders of the Windermere Improvement Company.
There are 640 acres in a square mile. Wauseon Bay has a total surface area of 123 acres so roughly 1/5 of a square mile of surface area. The mean depth based on multiple measurements near the center of the lake is 25 feet.
The water is typically pristine and because of its size relatively smooth. The homes on the north side of the lake (some of them) have a view of the fireworks display in the park to the south.
